This article is about how the members of the miss South Pacific pageant were talking about how more women should be involved in parliament. Right now there are only three. They made an analogy comparing it to a birds wings. "Like a bird, it has to have two wings to fly. A bird cannot fly with just one
wing. Our politics need both men and women to make it work." They talked about how sometimes culture is gender bias.
My opinion on this article is that yes, an equal amount of female and male members of parliament is good. Men and women should be treated as equals. But, they can't just blame the fact that there aren't a lot of girls in parliament on sexism and unequal rights. There are already women in parliament which proves it can be done. Maybe there just aren't as many women applying for the job as there are men.
This has to do with the Solomon Islands parliament. Its follows the politics of this country because its talking about the peoples opinions on parliament. Its talking about how they feel. Maybe the parliament will see it and agree with them too.
