This article is about how the Australian government just recently declared that same sex marriages are now illegal. Forcing many couples to have their marriages annulled. In most of Australia's states its not considered illegal for them to date, but they will never be considered married and will never be able to have a legal wedding. They also said the Australian marriage act was changed to be restricted only to male-female unions.
My opinion on this article is that I don't really understand what the problem is with allowing people to get married. Some of the couples in the article were already married, so why force them to get divorced. I don't really understand their sudden change of heart. I also don't get the difference between letting them date and letting them get married. Isn't marriage like dating, but forever? Also I don't really get why people make such a big deal about other peoples relationships. Its not our business what they do or who they want to marry.
This article ties to the Judicial branch of the Australian government. A while back they made the Marriage law stating that anyone can get married, but now they're putting restrictions on that law. Its important to the politics of the country because it not only affects the government, but their government system and the people.
